Astrophysicists map out light energy contained within Milky Way: Can this help decode our origin?

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society brandished a study by a team of scientists who are the first to have calculated the distribution of all light energy contained within the Milky Way

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society brandished a study by a team of scientists who are the first to have calculated the distribution of all light energy contained within the Milky Way.

This will give insights into not just how stars in spiral galaxies form but also the makeup of the galaxy.  This research was conducted by the astrophysicists at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), along with colleagues from the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg, Germany and from the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy.

This is not the first time that attempts to draw light on the formation of the galaxy has been made. The previous method to derive the distribution of all light based on star counts had garnered the attention of the scientists for a long time but ultimately failed because it could not account for the all-sky images of the Milky Way.
