Food safety officials seized 175 kg of spoiled fish kept for sale in and around Palladam

The district administration has announced that the selection for the posts will be done on the basis of a temporary contract in the National Health Board in Coimbatore district.


Tirupur: Officials from the Food Safety department received a tip that said spoiled fish was being sold at fish stalls in the Palladam area of Tirupur district.



Following this, an inspection of the area was conducted under the leadership of Revenue officials Vijaya Lalithambigai in the surrounding areas of Tirupur such as Pongalur and Palladam. Around 7 shops were inspected.



It was later revealed that spoiled fish was kept for sale in the refrigerators at the Tamil Nadu fish shops in Palladam and Pongalur areas. Following this, the food safety department officials confiscated 175 kg of fish worth Rs.40,000.



All the seized fish were disinfected. Notices were issued to 2 of the shops under the Food Safety Standards Act.



Food safety officials advised shop owners to store fish in refrigerators at the correct temperature, to use only powdered ice for fish stored in the refrigerator, and to use hygienic fish meat cutting equipment that is stainless and in good condition.
