Marichelvan, chairman of the health committee, has called for the complete prohibition of the use of banned plastics in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The health committee meeting was held today at the Coimbatore corporation office under the chairmanship of Marichelvan.

Speaking at the meeting, he said garbage was piled up in many places in Coimbatore. We need to listen to the difficulties of the cleaning staff and speed up the cleaning work. Daily cleaning work should be carried out in all the 100 wards in the corporation.
As well, something must be done daily “mass cleaning” in a ward. Dispose of faulty bins and purchase new bins. Also, buy new vehicles to replace vehicles that often break down. Build a center for the production of recyclable materials from building waste.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is again implementing the Manjapai project. Eliminate banned plastic applications in the metropolitan area. Raise awareness regarding the "Meendum Manjapai" project. Authorities should take action to increase revenue to the corporation in the solid waste management plan.

The meeting was attended by Sathish Kumar, Municipal Health Officer, Corporation, Health Department officials and many others.
