Coimbatore: A 50-year-old man stabbed his friend's elderly kin and son after a heated dispute arose over Rs. 50. Both victims have been admitted to the Sundakkamuthur Government Hospital and based on the complaint lodged by the victims, the Perur police are on the lookout for the man who stabbed them.

Manikandan, a resident of Sattur in Virudhunagar had visited his father Ayyasamy (65), a native of Sundakkamuthur in Coimbatore. Manikandan met Sudarshan (50), his relative, a resident of Ramachettipalayam while standing at the Sundakkamuthur bus stop. Sudarshan demanded Rs. 50 from Manikandan which the latter refused. The two got into an argument but later parted ways peaceably.

However, Sudarshan later went to Manikandan's house along with his friend Rajendran alias Marisamy (48) and began kicking up a ruckus at Ayyasamy's house over the Rs.50 issue. When Sudarshan got into an argument with Ayyasamy, his friend Rajendran who had accompanied him suddenly brandished a knife and stabbed Ayyasamy.

Manikandan was shocked to see his father being stabbed and while trying to stop Rajendran, he was stabbed too. Manikandan and Ayyasamy who were seriously injured in the brawl have been admitted to the Sundakkamuthur Government Hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Based on the complaint lodged by Ayyasamy, the Perur police registered a case against Rajendran and Sudarshan, and immediately arrested Rajendran. He was also produced in court and sent to jail. Police are on the lookout for Sudarshan who is absconding. People in the neighbourhood are reportedly in shock at the stabbing incident over a petty Rs.50 issue.
