Tea Estate Workers in Valparai stage protest demanding long-pending pension gratuity

The Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation retired workers in Valparai, staged a demonstration against the long-pending non-payment of pension gratuity to the retired workers.


Valparai: The tea estate workers in Valparai demonstrated demanding their long pending pension gratuity dues.

The Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation Limited is functioning near Valparai in Coimbatore district where there are estates like Cinchona Periyakallar, Chinnakallar, Ryan etc., where more than 2500 labourers are employed.



The demonstrators stated that the workers above age 60 alleged that over hundred workers have been denied their pension for over six years. They lamented that they were working temporarily, and that has also been stopped now.



The workers said that their livelihood would be affected by the stoppage of the work and they demonstrated in front of the Cinchona Estate office to give them the gratuity pension they deserve.
