Coimbatore: The 'Hygiene Festival' more popularly known as the 'Sugadhara Thiruvizha' was inaugurated at Sulur in Coimbatore by MP P R Natarajan. The festival was held at the Venkatapuram and Sultanpet areas in Sulur taluk of Coimbatore district with the help of MP funds.
On behalf of the Department of Medical and Health, Government of Tamil Nadu, a special medical camp was organized by Kalaignar's 'Varumun Kappom' special medical camp during the festival.
Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan inaugurated the event which was held on the premises of the Sultanpet Government High School.
Panchayat President Kavitha Dharmaraj, Deputy Director of Health P V Mahalingam, Muthumanickam, Dharmaraj and others participated in the function.
Eyeglasses were distributed to students during the festive event. Similarly, the Chief Minister's Insurance Card was also issued, and various medical consultations and treatments including eye, ear and general medicine were provided to the public at the camp. Over 100 people participated in the festival.
Similarly, P R Natarajan also inaugurated the health festival held at Naduppalai in Venkatapuram Panchayat Union. A large number of people participated in the 'Sugathara Thiruvizha' held in both areas of the Sulur Assembly constituency.
