The 22nd Ward Councillor in Coimbatore ensured the roof was built at his own cost, thus ending the long-term discomfort faced by the girls at the school over many years.
Coimbatore: The roof of the girls' restroom in the Government High School in Ward No.22 has finally been constructed, thanks to the efforts of the Ward Councillor.
Mounaswamy Nagar is located near Cheran Ma Nagar in the 22nd Ward of the Coimbatore Corporation.At the Government Higher Secondary School in the area, a restroom was constructed in 2012-13 for the girl students but sadly the roof was not constructed, leaving the girls in utter discomfort while using the restroom.
The construction of additional buildings near the school added to their agony. Recently, the Headmaster of the Government School decided to inform Kovai Babu, the Councillor of the 22nd Ward of Coimbatore Corporation about the 10-year-old problem. Assuring the Principal that the issue would be resolved immediately, Councillor Kovai Babu ordered the construction of the restroom's roof by allocating money from his own funds.
Apart from the roof being constructed, the Government High School has also been painted afresh, along with the restroom and water tank area. It is to be noted that the immediate action of Councillor Kovai Babu has brought immense relief to the school girls.
