Five types of prasadham to be offered at Coimbatore Marudhamalai Temple; Minister Sekar Babu

Five types of prasadam will be offered daily at Marudhamalai Murugan temple in Coimbatore, along with 9 other temples listed in the new scheme by the Charitable Endowments Ministry, which the Department Minister Sekar Babu launched on Sunday.

A scheme has been launched in 10 temples including Marudhamalai Subramania Swamy, Chennai Vadapalani Andavar, Palani Dandayuthapani Swamy, Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar, Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy, Samayapuram Mariamman, Thiruthani Subramania Swamy, Tiruverkadu Devi Karumariamman, Srirangam Aranganatha Swamy and Bannari Mariamman. More than one type of Prasadam will be offered at these temples, benefitting the devotees.

Minister for Charitable Endowments Sekar Babu launched the scheme of distributing prasadam through video conferencing at a function held at the Subramania Swamy Temple in Marudhamalai, Coimbatore.

Earlier, he inaugurated the scheme of providing free prasadam to devotees daily in 10 famous temples under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department at Vadapalani Andavar Temple in Chennai. "Around 10,000 people will be benefitted every day and up to 25,000 during festivals," the Minister said.

He also said that adequate manpower will be deployed to prepare the prasadam and all the prasadams will be prepared in a quality manner.

Senthil Velavan, Joint Commissioner, Coimbatore District, Vimala, Deputy Commissioner (Po) of The Department of Charitable Endowments, Vimala, staff of the temple and devotees participated in the function held at Marudhamalai Temple in Coimbatore.

Vimala, Deputy Commissioner (Po) of the Religious Endowments Department, said, "From now on, five types of prasadam will be offered to the devotees at the Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy temple, namely, panchamritham, kalkandu rice, thinai flour ball, puliyodharai and samba riceto the devotees every day. Since more devotees come on special days and holidays than on other days, additional prasadam will be offered".
