Anti-corruption police have been conducting raids on transport department offices in Tamil Nadu for the past few days and seizing millions of unaccounted cash. As part of this, the Anti-Corruption Department conducted a surprise raid on the office of Umasakthi, Joint Commissioner, Department of Transport, at the Coimbatore Central Regional Transport Office today.
During the raid, millions of unaccounted money were allegedly seized. Following this, it has been reported that the police are currently involved in the task of counting the money.
In the last few days, there have been complaints that Omni buses plying from Coimbatore to outstations are being overcharged due to consecutive holidays. Following this, Coimbatore Central Regional Transport and Associate Commissioner Umasakthi took action by seizing 2 buses in Coimbatore cargo.
In this case, it is alleged that Uma Shakti may have been bribed to release the captured buses and for various other purposes. Based on the confidential information obtained in this regard, it seems that this raid was carried out.
