The Democratic Youth Federation of India is holding the cycle rally to press for demands like filling up of Government vacancies, creation of new jobs as permanent posts, protection of small and medium enterprises and no sale of public sector undertakings.
Coimbatore: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will be holding a cycle rally from the four corners of Tamil Nadu to garner support for the meeting scheduled to be held in Trichy on May 1, with regard to the protection of MSMEs.
The meeting will press for four demands that include immediate filling up of Government vacancies, creation of new jobs as permanent posts, protection of small and medium enterprises and no sale of public sector undertakings. The meeting is being organized by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).
The cycle rally is being undertaken from the four corners of Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Kanyakumari, Coimbatore and Pondicherry). The expedition is headed by C Balasundra Bose, State Deputy Secretary of DYFI. The rally was flagged off by Thomas, Kerala State Secretary, DYFI and kick-started in front of Periyar Library in Gandhipuram, and is on its way to Trichy via Thudiyalur, Aavarampalayam, and Singanallur.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Balasundra Bose said, "The Union Government should fill up more than 9 lakh vacancies. The DMK government had promised employment to 10 lakh people, though only 1 lakh have benefited thus far. I urge the Centre and the State government to provide employment opportunities immediately. The Central Government has been inciting religious fanaticism and the Democratic Youth Association of India will not allow it."
The DYFI paid tributes to the statue of Periyar with garlands and raised slogans pressing for their demands. Coimbatore District DYFI organisations, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam General Secretary K Ramakrishnan, CITU Coimbatore District President Padmanabhan, SFI Coimbatore District Secretary Dinesh and others participated in the function to wish the rally team well.
