The Coimbatore city will be having ten new projects under the Smart City Scheme, for which officers in charge of the engineering wing of the Coimbatore Corporation have been appointed.
Coimbatore: Ten new projects have been launched for Coimbatore under Smart city scheme and the engineers incharge have been appointed
Coimbatore Corporation has introduced 10 new projects under the Smart City Project. As the work is about to begin, officers in charge of the engineering wing of the Coimbatore Corporation have been appointed. The Smart City Project was introduced to Coimbatore Corporation with the central and state funds and at present a sum of 16.54 crores has been allocated for 10 new projects.
New to be introduced under Smart City Project Plans include,
A library and knowledge centre at Adis street in Coimbatore Corporation at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore.Rs 25 lakh for the construction of toilets in public places.
A sum of Rs 12 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a urinal. A sum of Rs.7.48 crore has been allocated for the construction of main roads places such as Big Bazaar Street, Raja Street, Crosscut Road. Rs 1 crore has been spent for boating at Periyakulam in Ukkadam and Rs 3 crore for the water body video project.
Tenders were opened and contractors have been finalised and the work is to be commenced. Engineers have been appointed in the Engineering Department to monitor and implement these schemes regularly.
Bhuvaneswari, assistant executive engineer for the central zone division, and Karuppusamy for the south zone areas have been appointed by the Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation as in-charge officers.
