The BJP State President Annamalai who attended an event at a private college in Karumathampatti has stated that the TN Government should take appropriate action against those imposing forceful conversion on public, and also to be transparent in handling the Kanyakumari issue.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that forcible conversion that happened in Kannatuvilai in Kanyakumari has become a topic of debate and as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the forceful conversions are becoming a recurring story.
Reminding that Mahatma Gandhi himself called conversion a bigger threat, urged the state government to take action in the Kannatuvilai issue. Questioning why religions are brought inside schools, Annamalai needed an investigation on this practice and added that BJP will intervene if the government does not take action on the Kanyakumari issue. Kanyakumari has changed immensely on the basis of religion in the last 40 years, and BJP will move forward in the issue based on the TN Government's reaction, he stated.
Speaking on Amit Shah's comment on making Hindi the link language in India, Annamalai stated that there was no conflict of interest with Amit Shah's views and that Hindi was not being imposed anywhere.
"Amit Shah has said this on the basis that the percentage of Hindi-speaking people is high. If we worked keeping a 20-year target, Tamil shall very well be made the link language in India" , adding that they also opined same like what AR Rahman's wish was.
Annamalai stated that the people here are making an issue with Tamil, while on the other hand, if the government can take steps to fund, and write to all the Chief Ministers to make Tamil a medium of instruction, BJP will stand with them.
Commenting that 'Tamil is slowly dying," he questioned what DMK achieved in their five time tenure and also called for the formation of a committee to promote Tamil at the international level. He said Amit Shah had spoken as Home Minister.
"If an all-party meeting is convened to take Tamil across India, we will give our opinion," he said. Stating that Tamil is the number one language in terms of quality, he said Hindi is bigger in terms of quantity. Stating that the CM has no right to question BJP, Annamalai said that the TN Chief Minister was the one performing unnecessary tasks. Annamali said that Stalin has been speaking without knowing history and their tenure so far has been a matter of mockery and has no qualifications to moral police BJP.
He questioned which state responded to the letters of Stalin on the NEET ban. Adding that BJP will form government in TN by bagging 450 seats at the centre, commented that actor Vijay's Beast had positive reviews and his dialogue best suits the situation, which Annamalai slightly modified and said "You can learn Hindi if you need it".
"Students from Tamil nadu excel in Hindi Prachar Sabha, the Prathmik examination. And AR Rahman's Tamilannai poster release is a freedom of expression. Our enmity is with DMK".
He added that BJP has been commemorating Dr Ambedkar's birthday as Equality day for ages, while, DMK is calling April 14 as Equality Day, after being elected for five times in Tamil Nadu.
"We will garland Ambedkar's portrait at all the booths of BJP tomorrow and pay homage," he said, " as BJP is a party that is steeped in Social Justice".
He said the Dravidian movement needed an explanation and he was a Dravidian in terms of colour, while the DMK, ADMK and they were one and the same. Stating that BJP works based on the land, while how many of this DMK or ADMK work.
"By 2026, the BJP would win 150 seats in Tamil Nadu. It can be accepted that non-Tamil people cannot form the government, but it cannot be accepted that the Dravidian movement is the ruling party," he said.
