This year, the horse races are being held adhering to Government's Covid guidelines.
The Nilgiris: With the onset of the summer season in Ooty, the 135th Horse Race held by the Madras Race Club begins on April 14 till June 18, for which 600 horses have been brought into town. The race will be held adhering to the Government's Covid guidelines.
Nirmal Prasad, Secretary of the Madras Race Club briefed the media that the races were not held for two years due to the pandemic. "This year, the races will be held following the guidelines of the Government. 30 coaches and 30 jockeys, including a female trainer will be participating. The star attraction of the horse races, 'Nilgiris Gold Cup' will be held on June 2. In all, prizes worth Rs. 5.35 crores will be awarded. An entry fee of Rs.10 will be charged," added the Secretary.
