District Collector G S Sameeran distributed two-wheelers to 18 differently-abled persons and mobile phones to 6 of them through the Dfferently-abled Welfare Association of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran distributed wheelchairs with modern facilities to 18 differently-abled people with six of them also receiving mobile phones.
The Coimbatore District Differently-abled Welfare Department distributed the welfare assistance at the Collectorate in Coimbatore. The Collector reviewed the amenities and quality of two-wheelers provided to the differently-abled, and asked them if the vehicles were easy to operate.
Some requested to help them get a license, to which the Collector issued orders to implement the process immediately.
The Collector while enquiring about the needs of the differently-abled, assured them that measures will be taken to meet their needs.
A 50-year-old differently-abled person, Senthil who received the two-wheeler struggled to board the vehicle and was assisted by the Collector and other officers present at the premises.
A teary-eyed Senthil then thanked the District Collector, Public Relations Officer and Dhanapal, Assistant to the District Collector for assisting him.
