Private bus drivers, conductors in Coimbatore attack public for questioning against using banned air horn

Private bus driver and conductors allegedly attacked public for questioning them on using the banned air horn at Gandhipuram town bus stand. Public have demanded necessary action to be taken and also mentioned that the police at Gandhipuram are turning a blind eye to the complaints raised.


Coimbatore: The issue of private bus drivers and conductors who attacked the public for questioning them on using air horn has created stirs.

There are four bus stands in Gandhipuram, the main part of Coimbatore. Town Bus Stand, Central Bus Stand, Thiruvalluvar Bus Stand and Omni Bus Stand are available. Last night, private buses were lined up at The Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand in Coimbatore and were ferrying passengers. Reportedly, two passengers were standing in front of the bus, and private buses, which were constantly competing to load passengers, made noise using banned high-volume air horns.

When questioning the drivers on this, allegedly, they entered into an argument and attacked the public, for questioning. The people were forced to leave the place with nothing to do, as despite a complaint lodged at Gandhipuram police station, no action is being taken in this regard, and the private buses disturbing the peace of public using banned air horns continue to happen.

The public lament that the immense noise of the horn creates stirs among them, making them run blindly, which they state might lead to untoward incidents. The commuters have demanded that the Regional Transport Authorities should intervene and take appropriate action on the irregularities taking place at Gandhipuram bus stand.
