An awareness program on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day observed in the month of March is being held in Coimbatore for 30 days, and an awareness rally was inaugurated by the district Collector DR GS Sameeran.
Coimbatore: An Awareness Rally on TB was inaugurated by the Collector Dr GS Sameeran in Coimbatore.
National Tuberculosis Day is observed in the month of March. This will be followed by awareness programmes and awareness rallies on TB at various places for 30 days.
The government has implemented the TB eradication programme and allocated Rs.6,467 lakh for it. Awareness programmes are being conducted in various districts of Tamil Nadu to achieve the goal of TB Free Tamil Nadu by 2025.

This was followed by an awareness rally on the project in Coimbatore district.

The rally was flagged off by Coimbatore district collector G S Sameeran.

Nurses, nursing students and private organisations, including the Government Hospital, Coimbatore, Dean Dr Nirmala, were also present on the occasion.

All the participants of the awareness rally attended wearing t-shirts with the words "TB Free Coimbatore". The rally, which started near the Saradambal temple in the Race Course area, covered the area around the Race Course.

Awareness was also created by distributing pamphlets and banners on the tuberculosis eradication programme. More than 100 people participated in the rally.
