Resolutions were made to press the Government to reduce property tax to half.
Coimbatore: The MDMK city office bearers meeting was held at the MDMK District headquarters in Siddhapudur, in Coimbatore on Thursday.
The Coimbatore City District Office Bearers of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam met on Thursday at 6 pm under the chairmanship of A Sethupathi, Deputy Secretary, State Election Service. At the meeting, the District Secretary, R R Mohan Kumar delivered the keynote address.
"The Tamil Nadu Government has increased the property tax to 150 percent which will have an impact on people from all walks of life. Adding that the pandemic in the last two years has greatly affected industries, workers have suffered job losses. Traders have seen a sharp decline and the people are reeling under an economic crisis. At this stage, house rent, shop rent, rent of buildings engaged in MSMEs will be increased due to increase in property vat," stated the various MDMK office bearers, adding that the hike will have a severe impact. They urged the Government to reduce the property tax to half in the interest of the public.
