Coimbatore: On World Health Day, Coimbatore Government Arts College girls held an awareness rally for girls and women everywhere to use sanitary napkins and the need to make them available free of cost.
World Health Day is observed on April 7, every year. A number of awareness programs are being organized through the Soft Skills Development Unit at Government Arts College in Coimbatore. As a part of this, more than 100 girl students from the college carried sanitary napkins in their hands and held a rally around the college premises, to raise awareness on using sanitary products for hygiene in girls. They also drew attention to the high cost of sanitary products which make them unavailable for girls from poor families.
The rallyists also demanded that all sanitary products should be made free to ensure a healthy Indian female population.
