Coimbatore: Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji inaugurated the Neer Mor Pandal on behalf of the DMK near the ESI Hospital in Singanallur, Coimbatore. There Neer Mor, watermelon and tender coconut water were provided to the public.

Speaking to reporters at the time, Minister Senthil Balaji alleged that the AIADMK government had not implemented any new power generation projects for the last 10 years and that the projects brought by the Kalaignar Karunanidhi for 10 years had been put on hold.
The Chief Minister has ordered to review the projects thus put on hold and complete them expeditiously. Work is underway. The work is expected to be completed by the summer of 17,300 MW, the minister said.
At present we need 72,000 tons of coal to meet our needs, but only 48-50 thousand tons of coal is supplied by the United Kingdom. It has been contracted to import 4 lakh 80 thousand tonnes to meet the coal shortage. He also said that contracts have been put in place to meet the demand for electricity this year.
The Minister said that the cases were the reason for the backlog of work on the Coimbatore-Trichy road. He said he had called the plaintiffs and we were going to call them back and negotiate a settlement. He said the delay was due to the fact that the above works were carried out without consulting the public.
He said the Chief Minister was paying special attention to the Coimbatore district and was finalizing what projects were needed. He also said that work was being carried out to make water available on a regular basis every two days and that the work would be completed soon and a special scheme of drinking water would be brought to the Coimbatore Corporation every two days.
He said the source of funding for the Metro Rail service project in Coimbatore district would be obtained and the project would be implemented thereafter.
