Coimbatore: The rural policearrested two persons for selling ganja to labourers near Velanthavalam in Coimbatore and recovered 1.1 kg of ganja from the duo who sneaked in the contraband from Kerala.
Police received a tip-off that certain people were selling ganja targeting labourers in Pattamparai and Rangasamudram areas near Velanthavalam check post in Coimbatore. Acting on it, the police team led by sub-inspector Saravanan inspected the villages near the Velanthavalam check post on Thursday.
The contradictory answers from two people caught out of doubt in Pattamparai, the police continued to search them, to find possessing ganj. The arrested have been identified as Anandakumar, (24), and his friend Manikandan, (23), natives of Pattamparai in Picchanur and primary investigations revealed that the duo had purchased ganja from Kozhinjampara in Kerala and were selling it to labourers in Rangasamudram.
The police arrested the duo and seized 1.100 kg of ganja from them. The two were then produced before a court and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Jail.
