The 21 ward councilors, 20 from DMK, 1 from AIADMK attended the meeting held in the presence of the Valparai Municipal President, Vice President, Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Engineer.
Chaos arose as the Vice President and the ward members objected while the Municipal President stated that an amount of Rs.13.55 crores has been allocated for developmental works.
The Vice President and 11 ward members walked out claiming that the meeting has been arranged for without proper prior information to the council members and that they shall not abide by the head who was not announced by the party apex. They also added that the immediate needs of the public have not been met.
As many as 11 members of the municipal council staged a walkout following the Municipal Commissioner, and the meeting was held with the rest 11 members. A report was passed for nine new projects at an estimate of Rs.13.55 crores under the Chairmanship of the Municipality President.
A no-confidence motion has been passed to the Municipal Commissioner alleging that Azhagu Sundaravalli Selvam cannot be accepted as the head, who was not declared by the apex, throwing light on the internal conflict within the DMK.
