Coimbatore: The neighbours of a private estate in Thondamuthur have demanded action against the land owner who has been running a pig farm without proper approval, and dumping human waste in the land, that is causing them health hazards.
Vishnuram Mohan owns a land in Thennamanallur near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore. The neighbouring estate owners have alleged that he has been running a pig farm there without permission and is especially dumping human wastes in the garden bringing through a truck.
The neighbours stated, "Dumping pig farm and human wastes in his garden is causing health hazards and people living nearby are subjected to a lot of hardship due to foul smell emanating from this waste water". Adding that the land owner promises that the action will not repeat whenever complained about, the public stated that he is constantly dumping human waste into his garden.
The neighbours had reportedly taken the truck transporting the human waste truck into custody today and got into an argument with the truck driver. The enraged public were also unable to meet the estate owner as he refrained from speaking to them and subsequently submitted a petition to the Panchayat President, Village Administrative Officer and sub-inspector of police in this regard. They have demanded compensation to a neighbour, a woman who was affected due to the incident.
The neighbours allege that there has been no response to the petition submitted to the Panchayat President earlier as well.
