Coimbatore: Forest officials and the fire brigade's watchful efforts helped in the rescue of a fawn that had fallen into a well in a farmland belonging to Thangaraj, after being chased by dogs in Peedampalli, Neelambur in Coimbatore.
Deers stray into human settlements in Neelambur occasionally and then usually return to the forest. Locals in the region who witnessed the dogs chasing the fawn that ended up falling in the well immediately informed the Forest Department.
Forest officials with the help of the Fire Department rescued the fawn to safety by using a net and a rope. The fawn was then moved to a Forest Department vehicle to be examined. Later, the rescued fawn was safely released into the Madukkarai forest range, Ettimadai beat and Mattathu forest range reserve forest.
The Forest Department stated that the condition of the rescued fawn was stable. Locals in the region lauded the rescue team for their concerted efforts in ensuring the deer was pulled to safety.
