Police have arrested a youth for beating to death a 52-year-old worker near TASMAC outlet in Rathinapuri, who denied offering homosexual favours to the boy.
Palaniswami, a labourer from Rathnapuri in Coimbatore, used to drink alcohol at a TASMAC outlet in the same locality. Last night, Sri Vishnu, a resident of Kannappanagar, who was having his usual drink near TASMAC outlet, also came there under the influence of alcohol and reportedly demanded sexual favours from Palaniswami.
Vishnu attacked Palaniswami with a rock, as he denied his favours. The public present nearby rescued a seriously injured Palaniswami and sent to the Coimbatore government hospital. Palaniswami, who was in the intensive care unit there, died this morning. The Rathinapuri police have registered a case in connection with the incident and have arrested Sri Vishnu and are interrogating him.
