Valparai: The Valparai Municipal Commissioner issued orders to seal 32 shops that have an arrear of Rs.6 crore rent payment and the rest of the shops have been issued notice pressing for payment of outstanding rent.
The Valparai Municipality in the Coimbatore district owns 300 shops. The Municipal Commissioner had issued notices to pay rents as there has been an arrear since 2018.
A total of 32 shops were sealed under the protection of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Valparai.
The municipal commissioner said that there is around Rs.6 crore rent arrears and Rs.3.50 crore of income so far. While 32 shops were sealed in the first phase, the remaining shops have been issued notices.
