The Zonal President election in Coimbatore for all five zones was scheduled to be held on the 30th of March and all five Presidents have been elected unopposed. The DMK alliance won 96 of the 100 wards in the Coimbatore Corporation in local polls. The AIADMK won only three wards. Kalpana Anandakumar was elected as the Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation and Vetri Selvan as the Deputy Mayor.
The election for the Zonal President of Coimbatore Corporation was held at Victoria Hall in Coimbatore Corporation. Three AIADMK councillors did not attend the meeting. The DMK leadership announced the candidates for the Zonal Presidents of the corporation.
The DMK ward 52 councilor Lakshmi Ilanselvi Karthik was elected unopposed as the President of East Zone.
Kathirvel, an auto driver and the DMK councillor from ward 10 has been elected as the North Zone President.
DMK councilor from ward no. 95 Dhanalakshmi is the South Zone President.
DMK councillor Deivanai Thamizhmarai of ward 36 is the West Zone President, and DMK councillor Meena Logu from ward no. 42 as Central Zone President.
