The 22-year-old girl from Madhampatti set herself on fire at home after returning from her treatment.
Coimbatore: A 22-year-old girl fighting mental health issues died after self-immolating herself in Madhampatti, Coimbatore on Monday, March 28.
Sathya Priya (22), daughter of Arjunan of Perur Madhampatti in Coimbatore is a graduate of Garments Technology but was also suffering from mental health issues for the past seven years, and undergoing therapy. Sathya Priya's family had taken her to Sulur for treatment on Monday and then returned home.
Sathya Priya who was at home that evening suddenly locked herself inside the puja room. Arjunan's suspicion was raised after he saw smoke emanating from the puja room.

He broke open the door and was shocked to find that Sathya Priya had self-immolated and was burnt to death completely.

The Perur police were informed and Sathya Priya's body was taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for postmortem. A case has also been registered in connection with the incident, and an investigation is underway.
