The main revenue of Coimbatore Corporation comes from water tax and property tax. This year, there was a delay in payment of taxes due to the urban local body elections in January and February, as the financial year of the current year will end by 31st this month.
Steps have now been taken to speed up the process and those who have not paid tax are being directed to pay tax through emails. Drinking water is also being cut off for those who have not paid taxes and have long-pending dues. This move has resulted in a twenty percent increase in payment of taxes, which has gone up from 60 percent to 80 percent till last month.
