Coimbatore: A four-year-old girl was killed after the foundation built for a house collapsed in Thondamuthur.
In a terrifying incident, a four-year-old girl was killed as a wall collapsed in an under-construction building in Thondamuthur, and a seven-year-old girl who was playing with the 4-year-old is admitted to the Coimbatore GH after she has suffered serious injuries.
Babu (49) hails from Thondamuthur in Coimbatore. He owns a 6 cent land and a house is under construction. Chinnathambi, his wife Jyothi, Pavithra, and Mullai, all residents of Thadagam, were involved in the construction work. Since the land is in a dent, the foundation was laid raising to 4 feet above the ground, and the construction of the building was in progress.
Reportedly, the workers were engaged in digging a pit near the foundation when the construction work was going on. Sansika, the four-year-old daughter of Thangaraj, a relative of the construction worker, and Devasena (7), daughter of Chandru, were playing nearby.
Unexpectedly, a part of the foundation wall collapsed in which Sansika was crushed to death on the spot. Devasena was rushed to Thondamuthur government hospital in a life-threatening condition with wounds. However, her condition is critical and the girl has been shifted to Coimbatore government hospital for further treatment. Thondamuthur police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are investigating.
