The Corporation Mayor, Kalpana Anandakumar on Thursday inspected the damage caused in the main pipeline in Sathi road, Sivanandapuram due to road extension works and directed the corporation officials to expedite the repair process.
Coimbatore: The Corporation Mayor, Kalpana Anandakumar on Thursday inspected the fault caused in the main water pipeline of the corporation's major water source in North Zone, Sathi Road.

The Mayor, Kalpana Anandakumar personally inspected the fault in the main drinking water pipeline at Sivanandapuram on Sathi Main Road of Coimbatore Corporation, Ward No.4, 10, 11 and 21, and directed the concerned engineers to rectify the fault in the drinking water pipe immediately and issue drinking water by evening.
She then inspected the construction of a 220-meter road at Shahjahan Nagar, Chidambaram Town under Ward No.10, North Zone of Coimbatore Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs.42 lakhs under the TURIP, instructing the engineers to complete the work at the earliest, in the best quality to put it to public use. She also promised to take action on public demands for additional classrooms and buildings for the Shahjahan Nagar municipal corporation middle school and the LGB Nagar Krishnapuram primary school.
The Mayor addressed the public's allegation that untreated sewage out of a private apartment in Saravanampatti engulfed the roads and canal, she instructed the Health Department to issue notice to the concerned apartment association to take necessary action.

Ramasamy, Municipal Engineer (E) and Councilmember R. Kathirveluswamy, V. Kathirvel, Mr. Palaniswami (a) Siravai P. Siva, S. Poongodi Somasundaram, Assistant Executive Engineer Senthil Bhaskar, TWAD Assistant Engineer Selvaraj, Corporation Assistant Engineers Uthaman, Venkatachalam, Regional Health Officer Radhakrishnan, Health Inspector Loganathan and Corporation officials were present.
