Coimbatore: The presence of a small heap of used condoms in the Corporation ground opposite Nehru Stadium has shocked the parents and trainers.
The Corporation ground opposite Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore seemed a little awry after used condoms were found dumped at the ground. Kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, badminton and boxing training is conducted at this ground. It is maintained by the sports training associations there. Apart from kabaddi tournaments, basketball tournaments and volleyball tournaments, athletics competitions are also being held regularly.
Public, youngsters and adults, also use the area for their exercising routines, everyday in the morning and evening. The presence of used condoms has shocked the trainees, causing a slightly uncomfortable situation for the parents and the trainers.
Sports coaches alleged that there is an old unused toilet near the basketball court. Mysterious people barge into the ground bending the wire of the toilets and enter at night and indulge in such activities. Such actions continue even though the barricades have been repaired. CCTV cameras should be installed here to prevent such incidents from happening.
It is alleged that only one watchman is on surveillance duty in the area making it easy for, anyone to enter the area and indulgein such anti-social activities.
