Coimbatore: The sudden showers in Coimbatore have damaged the banana farmland in Chettipalayam area.
The farmers in the Chettipalayam area of Coimbatore lamented that their Banana trees were damaged in the rain that lashed the city yesterday, 23rd March, and wanted the district administration to provide them compensation for the loss incurred.
The 20-minute storm, though short-lived did enough damage, destroying about 1,500 banana trees in Chettipalayam town panchayat in Coimbatore district. The summer rains are expected, and the city received good rainfall at many places last afternoon. Farmers in the area are worried that the strong rain has caused economic losses and have requested the district administration to take appropriate action and make way for payment of compensation.
