Coimbatore: Kovai Kulangal Padhukaapu Amaippu founder Manikandan will be honoured as the Water Warrior by the Ministry of Jal Sakthi and Jal Jeevan, who has been selected as one among the 36 people, and only one person from Coimbatore.
The discussion on the water crisis together at the World Water Summit in Senegal, for India to become water self-sufficient,will be organized on March30, 2022, in the National Capital, New Delhi themed, 'Water Self-ReliantIndia Efforts and Challenges'. The topic will be discussed by Jalpurush Rajendra Singh, Pond Man of India, and water warriors in the presence ofJal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
The Event Jal Prahari Samman-2022, will also honour water warriors from across the country. The program is being organized by Sarkaritel.com in association with the Ministry of Jal Shakti & Jal Jeevan Mission, Chief Executive Officer of the program Ameya Sathaye informedthat this year that individuals, NGO andGovt. Officers from around 20 states which includes states likeAndhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat,Haryana, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi,Punjab, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will be recognized.
Anil Singh, the convener of Jal Prahari Samaroh, said that there are many Jal Praharis participating in the ceremony whose innovative uses,equipment, experiments, traditional methods are unique and are saving lakhs of liters of water.The names of farmers, scientists, IAS, IRS, district level officers, even teachers are included in the list of water warriors.
This year the selection committee is headed by former Chief Justice and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Ranjan Gogoi and the program will be attended byDelhi MP Manoj Tiwari, Rajya Sabha and MP Vijay Pal SinghTomar.
