On the occasion of international Forest Day, an awareness campaign was hosted at the Aliyar Forest Department check post in Pollachi forest range yesterday, 21st March, where manjapais were hanged to encourage its usage as an alternative to plastic bags. Students of government and private schools participated in the event and danced with the tribals.
Anamalai Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Ganesan, Forest Assistant Conservator Selvam, Forest Ranger Kasilingam, Foresters Prabhakaran, Sabareeswaran and forest department staff, school students and teachers were present on the occasion.
