A government school teacher has been arrested under the POCSO Act for sexually harassing a class 5 student in Annur after the girl reported the harassment to the school principal and a subsequent complaint was made to the police department.
Coimbatore: The Police arrested a government school teacher under the POCSO Act for sexually harassing a class 5 student at Annur in Coimbatore.
A 5th-grade student studying at a government school in Annur named her teacher for harassing her sexually and complained to the school headmaster, who lodged a complaint with the Annur police department.
The 10-year-old hails from Annur in the Coimbatore district. Manicka Sundaram (47), is the teacher from the same school, who allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and a thorough investigation was conducted, in which the teacher was proven guilty of committing the crime.
Following this, the Annur police arrested the government school teacher under the POCSO Act and produced him in court, and sent him to jail.
The incident has shocked the people of Annur, as despite the awareness and warnings issued, people continue to engage in such heinous crimes.
