The Road Transport and Highways Department has allocated fund of Rs.221 crores for the construction of new flyovers in Singanallur, Saravanampatto areas, to regulate the traffic congestion.
Coimbatore: Funds have been allocated for the construction of new flyovers in Coimbatore.
The Road Transport and Highways Department have allocated a fund to the tune of Rs.221 crores for the construction of new flyovers in Singanallur, Saravanampatto areas. There are three National Highways passing through Coimbatore of which only one is a By-Pass road and the other two are intruding into the city causing heavy traffic jams. Work is in progress to construct a flyover between Ukkadam-Athupalam to ease traffic congestion.
The construction of a bridge at Sungam on Trichy Road is nearing completion and construction of two new bridges on Mettupalayam Road has also commenced. The Ministry of Transport had allocated approval and funds for the construction of three bridges at Sundarapuram junction, Ellandipuram junction, and Ganapathi junction and the work is being carried out by the National Highways Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
Following this, the Road Transport and Highways Department have made an allocation of funds, Rs.221 in total for the construction of a new flyover in Saravanampatti, Singanallur areas. A sum of Rs.141.80 crore has been allocated for the construction of a bridge at Singanallur junction. In Saravanampatti, the flyover is to be constructed at Rs.80.48 crore, a merger of Kalapatti Road Junction and Thudiyalur Road Junction.
