The Irula community celebrated International Forest Day with traditional fervour at Kovai Kutralam and the tourists were elated to witness the programs.
Coimbatore: A traditional celebration of International Forest Day was held at Kovai Kutralam.
On the occasion of International Forest Day, observed on 21st of March, tourists witnessed the traditional cultural performances of the Irula tribes held at Kovai Kutralam in Coimbatore.
International Forest Day is celebrated on March 21 annually. As part of this, the Coimbatore District Forest Department organized a photo exhibition of birds and butterflies in Siruvani hills on Saturday.
This was followed by a traditional cultural program of the Irula tribes at Kutralam in Coimbatore on 20th March, Sunday.
The people of the hill villages performed their traditional dances, which served as a treat for the ey for the tourists.
