The Coimbatore District Heavy Service Workers' Union has lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Collector alleging that no facilities, including wage hike and ESI, have been provided to the porters working in the warehouse of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of the Central Government.
Coimbatore: The porters working at the Government steel plants' warehouse, complained that the company has not given a wage hike and they lack basic amenities.

The Coimbatore District Heavy Service Workers' Union has lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Collector alleging that no facilities, including wage hike and ESI, are provided to the porters working in the warehouse of the Central Government Steel Plant.
The public sector undertaking of the Government of India, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), which has been operating at its warehouse ground for the last 35 years, and 25 people work there. The porters there have stated that the company has not paid any compensation to those who have retired after more than 30 years of work and to victims of work related accidents.

The petitioners stated that ESI and PF have not been implemented. They said there were no facilities like toilets, restrooms, drinking water, or uniform and the company have been exploiting them like bonded laborers for the last 30 years. They requested for appropriate action to be taken.
