A Church Father has submitted a petition along with the residents in Kovaipudur, seeking construction of a cemetery, for the 2,500 Christian families, living in the Kovaipudur area.
Coimbatore: A petition has been submitted seeking construction of a cemetery for the minority group of people living in Kovaipudur.
More than 2,500 Christian families, a minority population, live in Kovaipudur near Coimbatore. They submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector seeking a burial ground for their community. The petitioners stated that there were a large number of Christian families residing in the place, and churches available, but there is no proper crematorium facility.

The petitioners added that have to travel a distance of about 20 kilometres to reach a crematorium, which is affecting the poor and downtrodden, and thus demanded a cemetery be built for the families in the area.
