Coimbatore: An awareness campaign on the ill effects of alcohol and counterfeit liquor consumption was inaugurated in Collectorate, Coimbatore.
An awareness programme on the ill-effects of illicit liquor and liquor was held at the Coimbatore District Collectorate. District Collector, G.S. Sameeran inaugurated the campaign, organized by an art troupe. Awareness was spread through a street play. Through a Karagattam, people were made aware of the evils of counterfeit liquor and alcohol. Similarly, the Kathiravan troupe performed an awareness drama in the guise of Yamadharman and Chitragupthan, (the Hindu God of Death and Justice, and his personal assistant).
Awareness banners with messages conveying the side effects of consuming illicit liquor and alcohol were displayed. Awareness programmes were held today on the day of grievance redressal. The public who visited the Collectorate to submit a petition witnessed the cultural programmes.
