Coimbatore: On Friday night, tense moments prevailed on Siruvani road, after a lone tusker damaged the compund wall and gate of Karunya Nagar Police station, near Alandurai here.
Seeing a lone tusker wandering on the Siruvani road, the public alerted the forest department. The forest staff who arrived to the spot in a jeep, attempted to chase the elephant into the wild.
However, the lone elephant scattered off and barged into a private farmland by damaging the walls and gate of Karunya Nagar police station on Siruvani Road. In the attack, a part of the compound wall and the iron gate of the police station was left totally damaged.
