The Kovilpalayam police detained two construction workers who looted Rs.5.75 lakhs from a house during the house warming in Kalapatti, and recovered the looted money.
Coimbatore: Two construction workers were arrested for stealing Rs.5.75 lakhs cash from a house in Kalapatti in Coimbatore.
Gauthaman, 33, a resident of Kalapatti Diamond Dasan Apartments near Kovilpalayam in Coimbatore district, is the owner of a private company. Gauthaman bought a new house for Rs.1.08 cores in Siva Nagar extension in Kalapatti and hosted a house warming on the same day. Gauthaman and his wife reportedly went to bed after placing the received gift cash Rs.5.75 lakhs on a cot.
Miscreants looted the cash by from the house.
Gauthaman has lodged a complaint with the Kovilpalayam police about the incident.
The police were conducting a thorough vehicle check on Vilankurichi Road when two passers-by saw the police and tried to flee.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Rajiv Gandhi (20) and Karthik (25), both residents of Villupuram, were labourers who were engaged in the construction work of Gauthaman's new house, and admitted to looting the money. The police then arrested the duo and recovered the cash Rs.5.75 lakhs.
