Coimbatore: The elected council members underwent an introductory workshop in Anaikatti on Friday, 18th of March.
An introductory workshop for the members of the Coimbatore Council was held at Anaikatti.

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara, Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan, Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Sharmila, members of the council, and corporation officials were present. They were trained by Janagraha Kendra.

Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar speaking at the workshop stated that she was one amongst them and need not be looked different as the Mayor, and urged that everyone should work together.
Following her, the CCMC Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara addressed the trainees.
Stating that he felt pride in serving as the Commissioner of Coimbatore corporation, he wanted the council members to know the day-to-day activities of the corporation and appreciated their enthusiastic participation in the training.
"Janagraha organizations are conducting MPL competitions for tax collectors on property tax regimes. Janagraha is working with the Central and State Governments to implement various activities.", he said.
Rajagopal added that the Members of the council shall personally visit the Solid Waste Management Scheme, Water Supply, Siruvani, and Pillur projects and work in association with corporation officials. Adding that every employee should work well during the working hours. he stated that the councilors should help people by providing better services.
Making better use of the training, he stated that the councilors should know the composition and their functions, committee discussion with senior members of the council, the introduction of heads of departments, its functions, the activities of all sections of the Corporation, the progress schemes of the Government, medical and health, drinking water, taxation, accounting, education.
The council members interacted with the concerned officials and clarified their doubts on the schemes, Model Conference on grading garbage at an early stage, completion notes and open discussions and aspects on creating their wards into models by seeking comments from the council members.
The CCMC Commissioner insisted on skill development of the elected councilors, as it played a key role in developing the city and urged them to constantly raise demands and questions to develop their wards.
