The forest department officials recovered a 20-year-old female elephant that dies after suffering multiple injuries in a fight with a male elephant, in the Top Slip forest region in Pollachi
Pollachi: A 20-year-old female elephant dies after a fight with male elephant.
The forest officers were patrolling the Varagaliyar forest area under the Ulandy forest range in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve yesterday, 17th March, and found a female elephant in a feeble condition, stationed at a place unable to move.

Forest officials were informed about the elephant and monitored her. The forest department also tried treating the animal, but the elephant suddenly fainted. A closer look at the elephant revealed that she had suffered several injuries in a fight with a male elephant and the stab wounds made her weak, causing the death.
Following this, action has been taken to conduct a post mortem of the deceased elephant by the Forest Medical Team today.
