Coimbatore: Destitute and poor women were distributed free sewing machines by the Jammat e Islamic Hind, city branch.

A 'free sewing machine' distribution program for destitute and poor women on behalf of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Kovai chapter was held on Thursday at campus of Hidhaaya Women's Islamic College in Karumbukkadai.

Jamaat's Coimbatore District President P.C. Omar Farooq delivered the inaugural address. The Deputy Mayor, Coimbatore Corporation, Vetri Selvan, was the chief guest on the occasion and he offered greetings and distributed sewing machines to the beneficiaries. 86th Ward Member Ahmed Kabir was also present and addressed at the program.

Maulavi Muhammad Hanifa Manbaee, state president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, and Maulavi Muhammad Ismail Imdadi, a percussionist at Hidhaaya Women's Islamic College, delivered the keynote address.

The state general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind K. Jalaluddin, Secretary of Public Service,I. Jalaluddin was also present.
The event urged everyone to work together with all parties to make such public service work for women's development and self-improvement to create a better society.
