Coimbatore: Vanathi Srinivasan stated that she expects the addition of metro rail for Coimbatore in the upcoming TN Budget Presentation.
The Coimbatore South MLA and BJP National Women Wing President, Vanathi Srinivasan attended the Modi Daughter Scheme (Sukanya Samriddhi), a scholarship programme held at the Rajasthani Sangh in R.S. Puram, Coimbatore under the BJP People's Service Centre for children who lost their fathers.
For the second year girl college students from the Coimbatore South constituency who lost their father, Vanathi Srinivasan offered stipend of Rs 10,000. A total of 115 children benefited through the scheme.
Addressing the press, she stated that the party was working to make sure that the schemes announced by the Central Government reach the beneficiaries. She mentioned that a majority of these girls lost their fathers, who were drunkards. She came down heavily on the state government and added that the Tamil Nadu government should take the responsibility of it as the state government generates major revenue from TASMAC.She wanted the state government to keep their future in mind and finance the expenses of the families. She also assured that BJP's stand on prohibition will remain the same until there is complete eradication of alcohol here.
She added that the Corporation roads are poor in condition, unsafe to travel, and the finished Smart City works lack maintenance. "The ponds are covered with hyacinths. The government probably thought it was just enough to offer anklets and not clean the roads, littered corporation areas."
Adding her take on the recently released film, 'Kashmiri Files', Vanathi stated that the film speaks of the misery of the minority population in Kashmir and the chief minister should also watch the film as it depicts people living as refugees in their own country. She added that the film has been adapted from the true events and it does not defame any community.
"Tax exemption should be given in Tamil Nadu like other states. The Budget will be presented in Tamil Nadu today, 18th March, and a Metro Project for Coimbatore is expected in it." Vanathi said that the BJP is not afraid of the threat levelled against them on social media and they worked for people even in the face of fear for their lives. She added that the raids on ex-ministers of the AIADMK were of political motive and DMK has a pile of actual responsibilities to be taken care of, rather than their pre existing 'duties'.
Speaking of the students who returned from Ukraine, Vanathi wanted to know if they can pursue their studies here.
