The Nari Kuravas residing in New Muthu Nagar next to Thudiyalur submitted a petition to the District Collector of Coimbatore demanding electricity connection in their locality
Coimbatore: The Narikuravas in Thudiyalur region in Coimbatore submitted a petition requesting for electricity connection in their area.
The Narikoravar community, who live in the New Muthunagar area next to Thudiyalur in Coimbatore district, submitted a petition to the District Collector GS Sameeran seeking that action is initiated to provide electricity connection to their locality.
Social Justice Party leader Panneerselvam addressed the issue. He stated that there is a colony of the Narikuravar community in the New Muthunagar area next to Thudiyalur in Coimbatore where about 65 families have been living for nearly 40 years. They have been fighting for the past 10 years to provide electricity connections to their homes while they have been living in squatter land in the area.
Neelaveni, a resident of the area, filed a case in the Madras High Court and said that only her house has been provided with electricity connections and the remaining 64 houses were without electricity. They requested the District Collector to immediately take action in providing electricity connections to the vicinity.
