The local police arrested two people for murdering a 46-year-old man in PN Pudhur in a dispute and dumped the body in an empty land near by.
Coimbatore: A 46-year-old man was killed in a dispute between three people in PN Pudhur area in Coimbatore on Tuesday, 15th March.
Thyagarajan, (46), was the son of Shanmugasundaram of Tilak Road, Seeranaickenpalayam next to P N Pudur in Coimbatore. Thiyagarajan was a habitual drinker, and stayed away from his family. He was unmarried and worked at a workshop.
Thiyagrajan used to drink with people in his area and created constant disturbances to the locals demanding money for alcohol. Reportedly, a drunk Thiyagarajan was seated in front of the Communist Party office, when two young men approached him and had a dispute.
Later, the next morning Thiyagarajan's family was informed of his death. His body was found in an empty land in Vivekanandha Nagar, motionless.
The RS Puram police who arrived at the spot up on informing recovered his body, and conducted an investigation. The CCTV footage in the area revealed that the two youth who arrived the previous night had beaten Thiyagarajan to death. He succumbed on the spot after suffering blows on his head and his face. According to the CCTV footage, the two men later dragging the body and dumped it in an empty land.
Ranjith and one of his friends Karthik from the same area were arrested for the murder and further investigations are being carried out, to decipher the motive, sensing a pre-existing enmity. The locals in the area however have alleged that, despite repeated complaints to the police against ganja peddlers and increased drug use, no action has been taken so far, and demanded that immediate action is taken to avoid anymore untoward incidents.
