The CPR, Centre for Environmental Education, the Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Government of India provided forest fire management training for the youth at the Fire Station in Ooty.
The Nilgiris: Forest fire management training was imparted to the youth at Ooty Fire Station.
The severe draught due to the commencement of summer in Nilgiris district, has led to drying up of leaves, vegetation and grasses in the forests and the risk of forest fire, subsequent danger to the wild animals are high.
In order to prevent this, fire prevention lines have been erected on behalf of the Forest Department and various measures are being taken. One-and-a-half month forest fire management training is being imparted to the youth on behalf of the Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Government of India, CPR Centre for Environmental education.
As part of this, 24 selected youth from Gudalur, Bandalur, Nadukani and Jeanpool participated in the training at Ooty in which the youth were briefed on the nature of forests in other countries, including our country, and how to completely extinguish the forest fire, in the direction of wind. Jeanpool Forest Extension Centre Botanist Gomathi, CPR, Environmental Education Centre Field Officer Kumaravelu, Conservator of Forests Mohanraj and fire station officer Premanandan imparted training.
