The DVAC officers conducted a raid at as many as 58 properties belonging to Ex-Minister SP Velumani and his associates across the state and at a farmhouse in Kerala, which the former AIADMK Minister has termed, 'Political Vendetta' and not a single rupee has been seized from the raids
Coimbatore: The Former AIADMK Minister has stated that the raids held are clearly an expression of Political grudge and the Chief Minister has been acting out of revenge.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police held a raid at 58 places across Tamil Nadu in cities including Coimbatore, belonging to Ex-Minister SP Velumani. The Anti-corruption police have registered a case against 13 persons, including his brother Anbarasan, for allegedly amassing wealth in excess of their income when he was the state minister of local and rural development.
The raid that began at 6.30 am, ended after 13 hours, by7.30 pm at the former minister's house in Sugunapuram area of Coimbatore. When the officers left, AIADMK workers gathered at the door, blocking the officers from moving out. The police deployed for security then escorted the officers. Talking to newspersons here, former minister S P Velumani said, "The raid is being held for the second time at my residence, which is a clear political grudge."
He stated that the raid was aimed at taking action against those who politically opposed the Chief Minister and those who had done well in the elections. In the last raid, nothing was recovered and not a single rupee was recovered today as well, he added
Stating that they will face these raids legally, he alleged that the Chief Minister is trying not to do his duties, in the name of raids, and added that the local polls were a scam, which Stalin successfully implemented, as he had failed to come to power by cheating last time.
He said that 85,000 votes have been cast at the time allotted for covid patients while there were only 70 patients reported. Velumani said that the Chief Minister was two-faced, one on the dais, and the other acts in revenge.
Velumani said that the police officers should be neutral, and shall not act as the slaves of DMK, and wanted the media to know the 'truth'.
